Creating Opportunities for Refugees + Immigrants w/ Nonprofit Success Pack

The International Institute of New England (IINE)‘s mission is to create opportunities for refugees and immigrants to succeed through resettlement, education, career advancement, and pathways to citizenship. IINE helps refugees and immigrants get settled in their new homes and communities. They do this by helping them gain access to key support and transition services, providing legal consultation, hosting classes that help them acquire English language proficiency and literacy, offering job preparation and placement services, as well as welcoming incoming refugees to find housing and basic services as they relocate to the US.

Purpose

IINE has used Salesforce since 2015 to support its fundraising, volunteer engagement, and programming. With an increase in volunteers and donations, they needed to simplify tracking, add automation, more accurately segment and code donations, and move shadow data off of spreadsheets and into a central space. IINE also needed to continue to support its programming work and centralize impact to support the work of the grant writing and fundraising teams.

Managed Services

IINE knew they wanted an ongoing relationship with a consistent partner. Craftsman’s Managed Services team got to know IINE’s Salesforce instance, and in partnership with IINE staff, identified and prioritized fixes, operational improvements, and enhancements, including:

  • Adding automation to the volunteer process with volunteer pipeline forms, email automation, dashboards, time tracking, and data migration from excel files.

  • Migrating forms from WuFoo to FormAssembly and leveraging its native prefill and Salesforce integration, to allow for more flexibility with less administrative overhead.

  • Building automation to keep finance GL codes properly assigned on incoming donations.

  • Streamlining the flow of data between Salsa Engage and Salesforce and segmenting donors

  • Creating a system for donation acknowledgment letters, taking staff time from 20+ hours per week to less than 2 hours per week.

  • Implementing moves management, grant requirements, and reporting calendars with the grants and development teams.

Tools + Technology

IINE uses NPSP and Volunteers for Salesforce to manage and track relationships, donations, and volunteers. They use Form Assembly for intake and programming, Apsona for document generation and reporting, and Salsa Engage for Donation Management.
