Our Commitment to Racial Justice

Our Commitment to Racial Justice

We unequivocally condemn the killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Rayshard Brooks, Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery, and too many more Black people who have been killed by police or by vigilante violence. All lives will not matter until we are ready to proclaim Black Lives Matter, and turn these words into action.

We are a firm committed to transparency, honesty, and doing right by our staff, our clients, and our community. We believe that technology can be an effective vehicle for change. Many of us work here because we feel a deep-rooted belief that a fair, just, and equitable society is possible through our concerted efforts. We build relationships with clients that we believe share our values and are working towards a fair, equitable, and just society.

We try to model those values – to live them as a company. We recognize that the technology industry has a problematic racial wage gap. We believe it is vital to uphold financial transparency to all of our employees and have begun to share salary bands with our team and new hires to create fairness, transparency, and clarity regarding advancement.

The technology industry also has a well known lack of diversity and inclusion. This month, we are formalizing an initiative to apply innovation and creativity to our hiring practices as a means to widen and diversify our applicant pool and team.

We will speak up, have difficult conversations, and recognize while we may get things wrong we will try again to work towards a more fair, just and equitable workplace. We will continue to listen to, learn from, and amplify the vital work of our clients who are working on powerful racial justice initiatives.

These are a few of the small but tangible actions we have underway. We recognize it is not enough – and that we still have work to do.

At Craftsman we see technology as a vehicle for social change. We realize our impact through the work of our nonprofit partners. At this moment, we will amplify voices seeking solutions. Here are a few: Nonprofits Fight for Racial Justice.
