Nonprofits Respond to COVID-19

In response to COVID-19 many of our nonprofit partners have once again risen to the occasion to help our communities. We are glad to share their stories.

Hebrew Free Loan Society

The Hebrew Free Loan Society (HFLS) fosters financial stability and opportunity among lower-income New Yorkers.

HFLS’ Coronavirus Financial Impact Loan Program provides interest-free loans to cover lost wages, child care costs, small business losses and related medical costs. Learn more.

Farm Aid

Farm Aid works year-round to build a system of agriculture that values family farmers, good food, soil and water, and strong communities.

Farm Aid hosted a virtual live music event on Saturday, April 11. At Home with Farm Aid was hosted by Willie Nelson. He performed along with Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews, all from their homes. The event was a virtual show of support and solidarity for family farmers and ranchers. Learn more.

 

PIDC

PIDC’s mission is to spur investment, support business growth, and foster developments that create jobs, revitalize neighborhoods, and drive growth to every corner of Philadelphia.

PIDC and Philadelphia’s Department of Commerce are responsible for administering the city’s COVID-19 Small Business Relief Fund offering zero interest loans to impacted small businesses. Learn more.

Greater Boston Food Bank

The Greater Boston Food Bank works passionately to end hunger across Eastern Massachusetts.

As an organization that relies heavily on their volunteers, Greater Boston Food Bank is responding to the increasing demand for food while simultaneously taking extra precautions to ensure the health and safety of their community. They are working with their partner hunger-relief agencies to ensure their ability to receive and distribute healthy food to those in need. Learn more.

 

 

 

Capital Good Fund

Capital Good Fund’s mission is to create pathways out of poverty and advance a green economy through inclusive financial services.

Capital Good Fund has developed the Crisis Relief Loan to help those financially impacted by COVID-19 in Rhode Island, Florida, Massachusetts, Delaware and Illinois. The funds can be used for paying utilities, covering medical bills, paying rent, and purchasing groceries.

Union Capital Boston

Union Capital Boston (UCB) transforms social capital into opportunity by rewarding community engagement.

UCB is providing Visa gift cards to Boston families in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. They were one of the first 15 grants awarded by The Boston Foundation and are raising funds to continue their work. Learn more.

Working Solutions

Working Solutions is a certified nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that supports San Francisco Bay Area entrepreneurs to start and grow thriving local businesses. They specialize in start-up and early-stage financing for individuals residing in the nine Bay Area counties.

Working Solutions Microloans continues to do great work supporting entrepreneurs during COVID-19 – partnering with the City of Oakland to administer emergency grants for small businesses. Learn more.

International Institute of New England

International Institute of New England (IINE) provides critical support services to refugees and immigrants in Massachusetts + New Hampshire.

Since the COVID-19 crisis began, IINE has added clients to its caseload in order to meet the growing need for help. The teams response efforts have provided hundreds of instances of emergency education, employment support and wellness checks for their community. Not to mention the provisions of emergency cash assistance, food/supplies and the list goes on. Learn more.
