Salesforce Spring ’20 Release Digest

The Salesforce Spring ‘20 Release will go live to all Salesforce orgs in January and February 2020. The sandbox preview became available the first week of January.

The Lightning Experience roll out was previously planned for the Winter ’20 release. It was pushed back to January 7, 2020 as part of the Spring ’20 release. Administrators and users are encouraged to test and become familiar with Lightning Experience.

Release Topic Notes
Lightning Experience Roll Out Salesforce is turning on Lightning Experience for all orgs that do not already have it enabled.

While admins cannot disable the feature, all users can continue to switch back to Salesforce Classic. For more information visit the Lightning Experience Critical Update FAQ, watch the Understand How the Lightning Experience Critical Update Affects My Users video or contact Craftsman for hands-on guidance.

Target User Profiles with In-App Guidance Users will be able to target In-App Guidance for specific user profiles. Previously in-app guidance could only be assigned to individual users – not user profiles.

With this feature, admins can set prompts to onboard and train users, highlight configuration changes and introduce features. Nonprofit use cases include training new fundraisers to manage their pipelines, introducing program staff to new features or reminding users of best practices for performing mass data uploads.

Admins can also include videos within a docked prompt, introducing users to a particular business process before they begin it.

Changes to Google Chrome’s SameSite Cookie Behavior The Google Chrome 80 release changes the default cross-domain (SameSite) behavior of cookies. This change improves privacy and security, but requires admins to test custom Salesforce integrations that rely on cookies.

Cookies will no longer work for non-secure (HTTP) browser access. Learn about the implications and how to require secure connections (HTTPS) in the Google Chrome Browser Release knowledge article.

Empty Your Recycle Bin with One Click Users who have emptied their recycle bin in Lightning know this is a more significant update than most would think. Previously, you had to empty the bin one item at a time or switch back to classic to access the one-click functionality. With this release users can empty the recycle bin in Lightning Experience with just one click.
Clone Objects With Their Related Records Cloning an object has historically required users to clone all of its related records as well. With this release users will be able to add the ‘Clone with Related’ button to certain object page layouts.
Automate Processes for Opportunity Contact Role Organizations use Opportunity Contact Roles (OCRs) to track a variety of connections their contacts have to other objects, like donations or loans.

Moving forward, users will have the ability to use Process Builder, Flow Builder, and Workflow rules to automate processes for OCRs.
