Salesforce Community Resources

Salesforce Community Resources

The Salesforce community offers many advantages to the organizations that know how to take advantage of it. They provide a wealth of training and support materials online in addition to groups and communities. In this post, we will explain how to access four resources available to all Salesforce users and why they may be of value to your organization. Topics covered will include training on Trailhead, community on the Power of Us Hub, assistance through Salesforce Support, and networking through the Nonprofit User Groups.

Salesforce Training Resources

Trailhead is organized into a series of modules for users of all skill-levels. To access Trailhead:

  • Go to https://trailhead.salesforce.com/en/home.
  • Select “Login” from the upper right corner.

  • Select “Log in with Salesforce” and provide your Salesforce login credentials.
  • If this is your first time, create a new account. This will be used to track modules you have completed, allow you to create sandbox (e.g. testing) environments and generally guide your learning path.
  • Review your profile. It will demonstrate badges you have earned and typically make recommendations.
  • It is recommended that every nonprofit staff member complete the Salesforce Basics for Nonprofits Module and every development staff member also complete Donation Management Module:

Power of Us Hub

The Power of Us Hub is an online Salesforce User Community. The Community can often provide answers to more detailed questions. The “Hub” is also where Nonprofit User Groups congregate.

  • Go to: https://powerofus.force.com/publogin.

  • Select “Log In with Salesforce” and add your credentials

Salesforce Support

Salesforce Support is often the third option to find answers. It is not that support is unhelpful. Rather, often the material can be more fully articulated in Trailhead or more specific if posted to the Salesforce User Community.

  • Go to: https://help.salesforce.com/support

  • Select “Log In” from the upper right corner and enter your Salesforce credentials. Quite a bit of information is available without logging in, but doing so will help you track cases and their statuses.

Regional Nonprofit User Groups

There are regional nonprofit user groups across the country. These groups are a great resource for in-person discussion and collaboration. To locate the group closest to you visit the featured groups page:

  • Go to: https://success.salesforce.com/featuredGroups?filter=a0L3000000SDIsaEAH
  • Login with your Salesforce credentials.

Summary + Conclusions

Salesforce users have an ongoing opportunity to learn from and connect with Salesforce and its vast user community. Taking advantage of these opportunities are inherently simple once you know how to access them. There is a lot to learn from Trailhead, the Power of Us Hub, Salesforce Support and Nonprofit User Groups – these resources offer opportunities to connect and share knowledge that make you a stronger Salesforce user.
