Craftsman Technology Group <br>Becomes Employee-Owned

Craftsman Technology Group (CTG) is a services firm with a mission: to ensure our nonprofit and social sector clients thrive. We see technology as a driver of impact and a vehicle for social change.

Founded in 2015, we provide technology consulting services to nonprofit and other social sector organizations. Our primary technology platform is Salesforce.com, and we are a Salesforce.org Impact Partner. We work with organizations focused on community and economic development, arts and historical, youth and education, community health and inclusive communities. We build, expand, and maintain CRM and related systems.

We remain committed to creating a more fair, just and equitable world through the work of our clients but also by modeling our values within. Employee ownership is a natural extension of those values.

We have codified three pillars within our employee ownership model. We will remain:

  1. A mission-based firm in perpetuity. The founding documents ensure the firm will continue its work with nonprofit and public sector organizations.
  2. An employee-centered business. CTG will continue to ensure employee engagement in matters of strategy, direction, and finance. We will strive to maximize employee impact alongside community and customer impact. CTG’s participatory governance structure provides for the direct election among the employees of two of its board of directors.
  3. Committed to revenue sharing. As a social sector entity, CTG is a modestly profitable enterprise. Profits beyond those needed to sustain the firm will be shared equitably among the employees.

Under employee ownership, CTG will continue much as we had before. BJ Cortis will remain as the CEO of the firm and serve as a member of our board of directors. The shift towards employee ownership is a strengthening of our existing foundation and an opportunity for us to become a more thoughtful, equitable and forward-looking business.

Our guiding value is to ‘do good.’ We believe employee ownership is a fuller realization of doing good by our staff. And, in turn, ensuring we do the greatest good in the world.” BJ Cortis, Founder, CEO

To learn more about Employee Ownership we recommend the resource of the National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO) of which CTG is a member.
